Why is it that Rap and R&B bash Gays in their music? Do you think they are taking a stand by saying gays arent an orientation or is it just a hateful sign?
I really don't get it...is Ne-Yo homosexual because if he is than that means the their is NOTHING any singer can do. It would dash their top songs to bottom.
I think that rappers bash gays in their music because they think that is what they have to do to make themselves seem more masculine. When in fact just like they said in the video, most of them men who are getting mad and saying that they aint down with it is on the down low. They do that to put on a front for their friend because they are afraid of not being accepted.
I think that rappers express homophobia in their lyrics because most of these men grew up around a time where homosexuality was looked down upon and blamed for the aids epidemic. Within the black culture it is considered the worst thing to be a gay man, but it is widely known of the rapes and homosexual relationships that go on in prison. That leaves us to wonder, with all of these men constantly talking about their life behind bars, who's really hetero?
I agree with saquaya with about the whole prison situation. Most of these hardcore rappers are always talking about how hard like is in jail. When they say they had tk watch their back, they don't say why. Is it because they were going to get "shanked" or is it because they were getting raped? They never tell...

Maculinity has been defined as rough and tough, having money and lots of GIRLS. Men being with men was just not apart of male socializtion. You grow up hearing 'yo son lets bag that shortie she's a cuite' never 'yo Steve you see Allan...hot.' Homosexuality has forever been branded with negative connootations; unholy, disease ridden etc. Society has seen homosexulaity as inferior and wrong and if you're on the wrong side of the tracks you get ostricized for it. Ironically enough, even though homosexuals are constantly bombarded with anti... lyrics the first people the artists call on or rap/sing about calling on is their homie; a guy. When in trouble, when in need it's always a guy. Women are only used for sexual gratification. Most guys say 'never let a chick come between me n my homie.' If you can be his homie you can probably be his lover.
I am in no way for or against homosexuality. I'm just lost.
I agree wit naya. R&B and Rap artist bash Gays to show their more masculine side. Sometimes they do this just to promote their cds. There are many reasons for this kind of behavior. They just dont understand. So, they attack them because their afraid. Sometimes, it may in fact be hate. What they need to understand is that they're still people with feelings. All the hate that is going around though needs to stop, because enough is enough.
I think the reason why rappers bash gays is because gays now and back then were looked down on. The odd thing is that probabley these rappers are gay. It is easy to put on a mask and hide from people.

The main thing is that it dosent want to be accepted. Rappers want to prove that is morally wrong.
